The Clinical Development Branch of the Division of AIDS of the

National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), NIH,

has a requirement to provide for the centralized performance of

immunological assays to evaluate HIV-specific mucosal humoral and

cellular immune responses in support of Phase I and II clinical

trials of candidate AIDS vaccines.  The purpose of this contract is

to support the NIAID in its mission to stimulate research towards

discovery and testing of prototype vaccines for the acquired

immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This is an announcement for an

anticipated Request for Proposals (RFP).  It is anticipated that one

(1) completion type cost-reimbursement contract for a seven-year

period of performance will be awarded as a result of this

solicitation.

 

RFP NIH-NIAID-DAIDS-98-06 will be available electronically on or

about April 25, 1997, and may be accessed through either the NIH Home

Page or the NIH Gopher by using the following electronic mail

for this procurement has been revised to include only the Work

Statement, Deliverable and Reporting Requirements, the Technical

Evaluation Criteria, and proposal preparation instructions.  All

information required for the submission of an offer will be contained

in the electronic RFP package.  Following proposal submission and the

initial review process, Offerors comprising the competitive range

will be requested to provide additional documentation to the

Contracting Officer.  Responses to this RFP will be due by the

close-of-business on June 30, 1997.
