Purpose

This Notice announces the availability of technical assistance resources meant to assist applicants to PA-12-119, an administrative supplement initiative titled Use-oriented basic research: Change mechanisms of behavioral and social interventions . The technical assistance resources available include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document, and a self-guided technical assistance slide presentation.

Background

Working under the auspices of the NIH Common Fund, a trans-NIH Working Group focused on the Science of Behavior Change developed an administrative supplement initiative. This initiative solicits applications that propose to add tests of the mechanisms of action to funded behavioral or social intervention studies. In an effort to clarify some of the administrative and scientific complexities associated with a trans-NIH supplement program, the Science of Behavior Change Working Group has developed a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document, and a self-guided technical assistance slide presentation for potential applicants. The FAQs document will be updated bi-weekly until the receipt date for PA-12-119 (May 15, 2012).

The FAQs document and the self-guided technical assistance slide presentation may be accessed on the Common Fund’s Science of Behavior Change website at: http://commonfund.nih.gov/behaviorchange/grants.aspx.
