Purpose

This Notice updates PAR-11-022 to inform applicants who plan to submit applications for Centers for Agricultural Disease and Injury Research, Education, and Prevention awards about the following:

Outreach Program

The cap on the amount which can be requested for the Outreach Program is $40,000. This is correctly shown on page 11 of the announcement. The $50,000 amount shown on page 14 is incorrect.

Duration of Individual Projects and Respective Research Strategy Page Limits

R03-type projects will be eligible for up to five years of funding. The Research Strategy page limit remains at 6 pages.
R18-type projects will be eligible for up to five years of funding. The Research Strategy page limit is increased to 12 pages.

Page Limit for Past Performance/Accomplishments in Last Project Period (for existing centers)

Applications from existing centers may include up to 7 pages for this section.

Page Limit for Past Performance/Accomplishments Relevant to Ag Center Goals (for new applicants)

Applications for new centers may include up to 7 pages for this section.

Center Project Period Start Date (for planning purposes)

Currently funded Centers should plan to continue with their existing month/day start dates for 2011 providing they do not fall on a weekend or holiday. If your current month/day start date would fall on a weekend or a holiday in 2011, please move it to first prior business day.

New applicants should plan on a start date of 9/30/2011.

Review Criteria for the Evaluation Program

In the first sentence under this section, “Outreach” should be “Evaluation”.

Other Support

Other support is not required in the application. As noted in the Instructions for PHS 398, this information will be requested at an appropriate time after peer review. NIOSH will request and review this information prior to award.

Providing Copies of Applications to NIOSH

At the time of submission, two additional paper copies of the application and 5 CDs of the appendix materials (if any) must be sent by expedited (overnight) delivery to:
