The Parent R15 Academic Research Enhancement Award program announcement PA-06-042 will be active until January 8, 2010. A new funding opportunity announcement (PA) for the Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) parent R15 will be published later this year.

Beginning with the October 25, 2009 receipt date, the funding limit for the AREA (R15) will be increased to a total of $300,000 direct costs plus applicable Facilities and Administrative (F&A)/ indirect costs, for up to three years. Use the modular budget for direct cost amounts up to $250,000 or the detailed budget for direct costs amounts above $250,000. Eligible Institutions will include those that have received less than $6million dollars in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

All other aspects of PA-06-042 remain unchanged.
