The deadline to review fiscal year 2007 grant award data is November 1, 2007.  After this deadline, grantee institutions and organizations will not be able to update their information in the official publication file.  If your organization has been awarded any grants between October 1, 2006 and September 30, 2007, organization officials have an opportunity to review the information and provide NIH with updated information to avoid errors in assignment of grants in subsequent official NIH reports. 

Please note that the new deadline provides only a single month window of opportunity to provide updates.

Why has the deadline be revised?

When Congress reauthorized funding for the NIH, it required changes that would improve the NIH’s ability to provide reports and data about NIH extramural funding.  The earlier deadline allows the NIH to provide earlier and more consistent reports.

How do you check your information?

Visit the “NIH Extramural Awards by State and Foreign Site” page and examine the “CSV” file for your state.  CSV files can be opened in spreadsheet applications such as Microsoft Excel.

What should you be looking for?

You should look for possible errors in assignment:

• For a department combining name change, select the new combining name and code from the approved list of NIH department combining names dept_name.csv
• For a major component combining name change, select the new combining name and code from the approved list of NIH major component combining names mc_name.csv.
  

For all revisions, please include the complete Excel file line (which has an NIH identification number for the grant) with its original data. In the line immediately below, indicate changes requested. If requests include a change in department combining, or major component combining name, please make sure that the NIH combining code, as well as the name, is provided.
