Purpose

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) intends to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled: “Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN) – Data Coordinating Center (U10)”.  The goal of this initiative is to support a cooperative, multicenter clinical program that promotes efficient comparison of novel treatment and management approaches for the potential benefit of children and adults undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.  Core Clinical Centers are expected to identify areas of scientific need, and to develop and participate in new Phase II and Phase III clinical trials designed to improve transplant outcomes and change clinical practice.  The Data Coordinating Center is expected to bring scientific, technical, and administrative expertise for the full range of activities needed to support the conduct of new multicenter trials in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The Data Coordinating Center will manage protocol dollars for all sites enrolling subjects on BMT CTN trials.

The FOA for the Data Coordinating Center is anticipated to utilize the U10 NIH Cooperative Clinical Research Center Agreement grant mechanism.  The funds awarded and the number of awards will depend on the number, quality, duration, and costs of the applications received.

A companion FOA is expected to be published for Core Clinical Centers applications (see NOT-HL-10-107).

This FOA is expected to be published in the summer of 2010 with applications due in the fall of 2010.

This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop responsive projects.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
