Purpose

The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) along with the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), National Institute on Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), and National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is issuing this Notice to extend the expiration date of the following funding opportunity announcements:

Feasibility Studies to Develop Technology and Methods for Genomics, Population Genomics and ELSI (R21); PA-07-459; http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-07-459.html.

The expiration date will be extended from January 8, 2011 to May 8, 2011.

New Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) will be issued after the National Human Genome Research Institute’s new strategic plan--Base Pairs to Bedside: Charting a Course for Genomic Medicine--has been published and NHGRI staff has had ample time to generated FOAs that address the opportunities in the strategic plan. It is anticipated that the Strategic Plan will not become operational until the Spring of 2011.
