This is an update of http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/not97-176.html

The purpose of this Notice is to inform the scientific community that applications to obtain access to the genotypic services offered by the Center for Inherited Diseases (CIDR) will transition from paper to electronic submission.  The last receipt date for paper applications will be July 1, 2008.  The first receipt date for X01 electronic submissions will be November 3, 2008.

The National Human Genome Research Institute on behalf of the National Institutes of Health manages the Center for Inherited Diseases (CIDR- http://www.cidr.jhmi.edu/).  CIDR is a centralized facility that provides genotyping and statistical genetics services for investigators seeking to identify genes that contribute to human disease. CIDR concentrates primarily on multifactorial hereditary disease although analysis of single gene disorders can also be accommodated. CIDR offers a variety of services to meet the needs of investigators.  Access to the genotyping services is determined through competitive peer review by a chartered scientific review committee.

NHGRI plans to issue a Program Announcement with special review (PAR) using the X01 funding mechanism.  The PAR is scheduled to be issued in the NIH Guide to Grants and Contracts in July 2008. The announcement will have special receipt dates which will be included in the PAR.
