National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), (http://www.genome.gov/)
Very shortly, the NHGRI plans to issue six (6) Requests for Applications (RFAs) that will solicit applications for the development of near-term and revolutionary genome sequencing technologies. The mechanism that will be used for each of these topics will be R21, R21/R33, R01, SBIR (R43/R44) and STTR(R41/R42). The receipt date for Letters of Intent will be January 17, 2006 and the application submission date will be February 17, 2006 . The research scope will be essentially the same as that of previously issued RFAs on the same subjects: (1) Near-Term Technology Development for Genome Sequencing (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-04-002.html) and (2) Revolutionary Genome Sequencing Technologies (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HG-04-003.html).
SBIR and STTR applications submitted in response to these RFAs must be submitted electronically through grants.gov (see https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-05-067.html). Paper applications will not be accepted. Potential applicants and applicant institutions should be aware of the need to register to use that grant application submission web site (see https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-05-068.html).
