The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) announces the availability of funds for administrative supplements to current MBRS-RISE and MBRS-IMSD grantees. Within the scope of the existing funded programs, the purpose of these supplements is restricted to:

Support for equipment replacement or updating that enhances the research training or skills development activities of the currently funded program

Support of program evaluation to assess and evaluate both institutional and program outcomes.

The total amount requested should not exceed $100,000 for equipment supplements or $50,000 for impact evaluation. To apply for these supplements submit the PHS398 face and budget pages and no more than a 5-page narrative to justify the request.

The equipment supplements must describe the impact of the requested equipment on the research training or skills development activities of the existing program.

The evaluation supplement should enhance the current assessment and/or evaluation of the existing program. It should be based on cited literature and methodology, and be focused on institutional outcomes as well as a measurable impact of the funded program.

Institutions can request either one or both types of supplements. The submission deadline is January 28, 2008. Applications must be submitted directly to NIGMS MORE Division (45 Center Drive, 2AS.37K; Bethesda, MD 20892-6200) and are not to be submitted to the Center for Scientific Review.
