Purpose
The purpose of this notice is to announce the termination of the NIGMS Program, Supplements for the determination of high-resolution structures , http://www.nigms.nih.gov/funding/pa/high_resolution.html. The purpose of the program was to encourage, through administrative supplements, the determination of atomic level structures by laboratories not normally engaged in structure determination. As a result of the success of this program, the increased availability of major facilities with excellent user support, and the development of more user friendly structure determination methods, the goals of this program have largely been achieved. In light of this fact, and given current increased budget stringencies, NIGMS has decided to discontinue this program effective immediately. Investigators may still apply for competing supplements for the purpose of adding high resolution structure determination to the goals of existing projects and are also encouraged to include structure determination, where appropriate, as part of their competing research grant’s applications.
