MEDICATION DISCOVERY USING RAT MODELS OF RELAPSE TO COCAINE SELF-ADMINISTRATION

National Institute on Drug Abuse

Under the upcoming solicitation, The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) 
is soliciting proposals from qualified organizations having the in-house 
capability to develop methodologies and to perform in vivo rodent behavioral 
pharmacology studies of potential pharmacotherapies for cocaine dependence 
using a cocaine self-administration reinstatement model.  The Contractor will 
be blinded to the identity of proprietary test compounds, the compounds will 
be evaluated in established assays, and the resulting data will be utilized by 
the NIDA Cocaine Treatment Discovery Program.  The successful offeror must 
indicate possession of current DEA registration for Schedules II-V substances 
prior to award and apply for Schedule I registration.  NIDA anticipates 
awarding a cost-reimbursement, four-year contract with optional quantities.  
RFP No. N01DA-0-8801 will be available electronically on or about November 29, 
1999, and may be accessed through the Internet at the following address:

the submission of an offer will be contained in the electronic RFP package.  
Response to the RFP will be due on or about February 7, 2000.  Any responsible 
offeror may submit a proposal that will be considered by the Government.  This 
advertisement does not commit the Government to award a contract.
