The Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS --
http://dccps.nci.nih.gov/) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI)
announces an additional receipt date for REVISED R01 grant applications
originally submitted under PAS-02-009, Cohort Studies in Cancer
Epidemiology (NIH Guide October 11, 2001). Revisions to applications
originally submitted on either February 21, 2002, or February 21, 2003,
will be accepted November 1, 2003, in addition to the usual annual
receipt date.

The Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) of the
National Cancer Institute (NCI) announced an annual receipt date for
R01 applications from investigators intending to initiate,
competitively supplement, or competitively renew epidemiologic cohort
studies of human cancers. This notice clarifies and revises the policy
described in PAS-02-009, and published in the NIH Guide for Grants and
Contracts on October 11, 2001. This revised policy allows applicants
to submit REVISED applications for an interim receipt date of November
1, 2003, IN ADDITION TO the previously published receipt date of
February 21, 2003. It does NOT allow applicants to submit NEW
applications on November 1, 2003. An applicant planning to submit a
REVISED application originally submitted under PAS-02-009 may submit
either February 21, 2003, or November 1, 2003, under the procedures and
policies outlined in the original PAS and available at the following
URL address: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAS-02-009.html.

Prospective applicants for the November 1, 2003, receipt date are
strongly encouraged to submit, by October 1, 2003, a Letter of Intent
that includes the GRANT NUMBER, the name, address, and telephone number
of the Principal Investigator, the identities of other key personnel
and participating institutions, and that the revision is being
submitted in response to PAS-02-009, Cohort Studies in Cancer
Epidemiology. Although a Letter of Intent is not required, is not
binding, and does not enter into the review of a subsequent revised
application, the information that it contains allow NIH staff to
estimate the potential review workload and plan for the review.
