DESCRIPTION: TO ELECTRONIC RFP ANNOUNCEMENT - POTENTIAL OFFERORS WILL
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DOWNLOADING THEIR OWN COPY OF THE SOLICITATION AND
ANY AMENDMENTS. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), The National
Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine seeks a Contractor to
conduct a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial
to determine the impact of adjuvant intravenous (IV) magnesium sulfate
treatment on hospitalization rates and serial spirometric lung function
for patients who present to the emergency department (ED) with severe,
acute asthma and do not respond to standard therapy. In a randomly
selected sample of the population, baseline and post treatment levels
of intracellular magnesium should be assessed as they may be a
significant determinant of response. The North American Industry
Classification System (NAICS) code is 541710. Request for Proposals
(RFP) No. N01-AT-11022-64 will be AVAILABLE ELECTRONICALLY and may be
