ADDENDUM: SUPPLEMENTS TO EXPAND ACCESS TO LARGE SPECIMEN COLLECTIONS (NOT-CA-00-025) Release Date: October 23, 2000 NOTICE: CA-01-002 National Cancer Institute This addendum is to inform potential applicants of following changes/clarifications to NOT-CA-00-025 entitled Supplements to Expand Access to Large Specimen Collections released August 30, 2000. 1. The due date for applications is extended to Monday November 6, 2000. 2. An institution is any NCI grant recipient with specimens and data collected as part of its funded research. This includes SPOREs, Clinical Cooperative Groups, Centers etc. 3. In most cases qualification for these supplements requires specimens from at least 2000 accrued cases (individual patients) appropriate for use in research. Specimens and data do not all have to be located at one institution or collected as part of single study. In rare cases special (unique) collections with fewer cases may qualify. 4. Foreign sites may participate as subcontractors to a domestic institution funded as part of the same project. 5. The applicant institution must propose to supplement an active grant that has at least two years of time remaining. The supplement budget period requested should be the time remaining on the grant that is to be supplemented. 6. Applicants should make their supplement request in the form of a letter, but the budget should be requested on the standard PHS 398 budget forms. Direct costs may be requested up to the budget cap. Facilities and administrative costs to collaborating institutions (included in direct costs) will not be counted against this limit. All other instructions of NOT-CA-00-025 remain unchanged.
