Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants of NCCAM's intent to participate, effective immediately, in the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), RFA GM-14-002, entitled "Genomes to Natural Products (U01)" published by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).

For this FOA, specific topics of interest to NCCAM include:

  • Extension of genomic, synthetic biology, and bioinformatics methodologies to the study of plant based natural products
  • Application of genomic, synthetic biology, and bioinformatics methodologies to better understand the contributions of endophytic microorganisms to plant natural product chemistry

Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards

NCCAM plans to contribute $1,500,000 in Direct Costs ($2,250,000 in Total Costs) to this initiative which will provide funding for one additional U01 project. NCCAM support for this RFA is contingent on availability of funds and receipt of meritorious applications.
