Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to announce a publication related to a recent NIA funding opportunity, RFA-AG-12-006, “Leveraging Existing Data or Longitudinal Studies to Evaluate Safety and Effectiveness of Pharmacological Management of Chronic Pain in Older Adults (R03)”

RFA-AG-12-006 followed a 2010 NIH conference aimed at identifying knowledge gaps and research opportunities on pharmacological management of chronic pain in older adults. The proceedings from this conference were in press at the time that this FOA was released. Since then, the proceedings have been published on-line and are available at http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1526-4637.2011.01211.x/full.

The publication is cited as Reid MC et al. "Improving the Pharmacologic Management of Pain in Older Adults: Identifying the Research Gaps and Methods to Address Them." It is slated to appear in the September, 2011, issue of Pain Medicine.
