Interested in establishing partnerships with organizations currently developing novel medical or environmental cell or tissue-based products for SBIR/STTR collaborative research.

Expertise Provided:
We have several methods for long term storage and distribution of highly perishable, living products that have potential applications for cells, natural tisues and engineered tissues. We have had a very high success rate with past SBIR/STTR proposals.

Our cell and tissue preservation research is focused primarily on developing products and processes employing low temperature biology to substantially improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of cell and tissue storage and transportation. CTS preservation technologies potentially impact a huge US patient population and the broad potential for U.S. economic benefits extrapolates to about one-half of the existing total health care costs. The CTS technology platform for cell and tissue preservation is based on four complementary strategies for optimization of cell survival. These include solutions designed to optimize cell survival during storage at refrigeration temperatures (0-10°C), strategies to deliver non-toxic cryoprotectants into cells, avoidance of damaging ice formation, and development of prototype freeze drying methods. Technology/Product Information: The products are preservation methods and formulations. We are actively seeking companies to partner with us and utilize our preservation technologies for their products and distribution areas. The target markets are cell and tissue research & toxicology target products including preservation and distribution of preserved cells, human cell and tissue banking for research distribution, allogeneic tissue banking, medical cell therapies. There are also many small niche market opportunities for research, toxicology testing and diagnostic kit products.

I have an invention of an organ tissue shock and vibration isolation transport enclosure system, designed to prevent tissue trauma during transit from helicopter "chop" and aircraft randoms, high impact shock of 200+ g's, as well as 48 hour steady state control at 34 +/- 2 F ice water temperature. It features a two- mass, two-shock mount (external and internal) 12 degree of freedom isolation system, which results in a highly effective "tuned mass damping" attenuation isolation device, with outputs of less than 0.35 g's and shocks of <5-9 g's for 12+ foot drop, or per NAVY MIL Specs. My company is a small business in shock and vibration R&D. You may see a CAD rendering of the invention on page 3 of my web site: www.descorp.com. I have a working prototype model ready for formal feasibility testing. I can send more information to interested parties of the design and performance todate.
